Everything went wonderfully. The sacred month of Islam came to an end once again this year. On March 19, 2026, we kept the coals burning throughout the entire afternoon, in the spirit of sharing and relaxation. Helped by a beautiful day that allowed us to stay outside, enjoying the aromas of the meat masterfully marinated by Ousmane and Alì, and cooked by the expert hands of Ibrahim who, between one dance and another, stayed by the fire until the very last bone was cooked.
The table, overflowing with meat and carbohydrates, completely overshadowed the garden salad. The grimaces of Ousmane — the only one who tasted it — declared its anonymity: apparently, the sparkling crunchiness of freshly picked green leaves does not suit African tastes… nor, evidently, the other nationalities represented there. And so it was chicken without limits: some eating from plates, others with their fingers, whistling songs from home. A seriously improvised football match gently carried us toward the bubbling sound of a moka coffee pot, before we slowly made our way down to the bus stop, each at our own pace. Gradually, everything became quieter, while some here and others there restored order, preparing to return once again, before long, to our usual daily routines.
Thanks to our young people, who wanted to create — and contributed to creating — such a welcoming atmosphere of genuine sharing. Thanks as well to everyone who came to spend the day with us, from the shyest to the most outgoing. Until the next celebration!
